We cannot erase the fact that many dogs freely roaming around have disrupted communities and unfortunately for some owners, they find themselves facing law suits. Roaming dogs can mess up a neighbor’s flower garden, frighten children even if they only wanted to play, meet car accidents which will make all parties angered, and more. In lieu of this kind of scenario (and there are many more which roaming dogs find themselves in), it is wise for dog owners to find a way to train their dogs to stay within certain limits of their home.

We have seen dog owners go out to buy wire and spend extra time, labor and money to set up a dog fence. However, there are certain places which no longer allow dogs to be fenced up. Thus, many are becoming introduced to wireless dog fences to help train their dogs to stay within the bounds set for them. Wireless dog fences may be a new concept to you. Read on to learn more about this tool which you may find might be the right tool for you and your beloved pet.

Basically, a wireless dog fence sends radio waves which transmit a signal or a shock to dogs when they are at the boundary line. There is an electronic device that is attached to the dog’s collar. A shock sounds like a hurtful way to train an animal; but this device has been approved to be pet friendly. Some wireless fences have features such as beeping to warn your dog that he is approaching the boundary so that your dog has time to retreat.

This kind of fence is battery operated and it is quick to set up. So that it performs at its best, it is good to make sure that there is no obstruction such as metal which can get in the way of the radio waves. One of the negative things about this kind of tool is that you have to check every once and awhile that the boundary set does not wobble or else it will confuse your dog as to where his exact limits are. Another thing that you need to also consider is the length that your dog has in order to retreat. Sometimes this tool may warn your dog that he is already too close to the boundary when in fact he is still far from it which will also confuse the training that you are giving him.

However, the advantage of using this device is that you will have a happier dog who will be able to play and run within the loving bounds that you have set up for him. He will not need to feel that you are keeping him away from the “outside” world as compared to having him fenced. You may also find that the community you live in will start looking better and more peaceful when dog fences come down. This tool is a good way to train your dog which will make a happy home, neighbor, and community.

Are you tired of your dog sneaking out or escaping from the boundaries of your home? Are you worried that your dog may run out to the street and meet an accident?

Are you tired of your dog sneaking out or escaping from the boundaries of your home? Are you worried that your dog may run out to the street and meet an accident? Are you tired of your neighbors calling you to find that your dog has made a mess in their yard? Sometimes a wired fence may not do the trick in keeping your dog within the bounds of your home or specific area. Many have now shifted from wired fences to wireless dog fences. We have seen how some dog owners have chained their pets or put up fences to prevent dogs from escaping or going beyond the boundary of the yard. However, some communities no longer approve of homeowners setting up wired fences. To add, wired fences also take extra money and effort to maintain. You’ll also have to worry about your dog digging holes underneath these fences which will not only ruin your property but again take more of your time to have it fixed and hole closed.

The wireless dog fence is one that is battery operated that sends radio waves which will build an invisible boundary or fence for your dog. An electronic device on the collar will pick up the transmission from the radio waves which will signal your dog when he is pushing against the bounds. The shock that it sends to your dog might surprise him and hurt just a little bit. However, it will not have hurtful long lasting effects. The only thing your dog will remember is not to go past his boundaries. You may be surprised that training your dog with this kind of tool might sometimes also take a little more effort and assessment. Some big dogs can withstand the shock or other dogs have a higher tolerance for pain. If you do buy a wireless dog fence, it is important to check the information about the grounding as well as observe if it has any effect on your dog. It is also important to inform your kids about the tool and what it does so that they can also stay away from harm and understand what happens to your pet. Some owners may be uncomfortable with the part that it sends a shock to the dogs; however this may be better than having your dog going over the boundary only to be hit by a car. Also, it is a better sight to see a dog that knows his boundaries and can play freely as compared to one that is chained and barking to wish to be free.

To have a peace of mind, you can go online and read on some of the wireless dog fence brands and customer reviews. It will give you a better idea of what to expect from their products and effects on dogs from the eyes of actual pet owners. At the same time, you will be able to learn which of the brands will better suit your needs as not all of them have the same features. This type of training has been assessed and labeled as a safe tool to use for pets. In addition, many dog owners have seen that this actual training does work.

Sometimes it is quite difficult to train a dog to stay within a certain area. This is the reason why we see dog fences and why many have also opted to chain their dogs in addition to having fences. Whether you live out in a farm and want to keep the dog from your vegetable garden or you’re in the suburb and want him out of your neighbor’s lawn, there is an alternative to training to stay within the bounds that you set for him. Although fences and chains are still widely seen and used, for those looking for an alternative, they might be attracted to what they call wireless dog fences. Yes, wireless dog fences are available and work because of radio waves transmitted. The waves are transmitted to the electronic which is attached to the dogs collar. It is a good way to train dogs to stay within a certain area. For animal lovers who are considering to buy this gadget, it is important to know some of the drawbacks so that you can choose from a brand which addresses them the best.

Two things that need to be checked when considering purchasing one of these are the boundary wobble and the retreat response. One drawback of wireless dog fences is that there is what they call the boundary wobble. What this means is that there may be times that the boundary might move which makes it harder for dogs to learn the actual limit to where they can go. This is especially difficult if you want to keep your dog from potential harm on the opposite side of the boundary line. For example, your yard may be facing the road where your dog may accidentally get hit. So if this boundary line wobbles, your pet might not clearly understand his limits. Another aspect to look at is the retreat response as well. This is the distance that the dog must acknowledge and retreat from to stop the correction. Sometimes it means that the dog needs to retreat from a further or longer distance.

This type of tool is battery operated and the transmission will not hurt the dog. This product is approved and acknowledged safe for pets. There are different styles and types of wireless fences that you can buy online. It would be to your advantage to look at the different kinds and read what customers had to say about it. Not all will have the same features so it is important to check what kind of level of training your dog needs and the environment that you want to contain him in.

Training a pet with a wireless dog fence may save you from yelling or getting negative stares when guests see your pet chained. Training can be a pleasant and fruitful experience with the use of this tool. Not only will you benefit but your dog will also appreciate your training technique and appreciate how

A wireless dog fence is a portable device intended to transmit signals to a receiver on the collar of a dog. It is plugged into any electrical outlet or operates on batteries, typically near an area where a pet owner wants to enclose his dog, such as keeping him within the lot perimeter around the house. When the dog gets close to the area near the transmitter, a beeping tone is heard. If the dog persists in entering the area, the collar releases a static correction to startle the dog and keep him from leaving the set area.

Typically, the transmitter is kept indoors so that it will not get wet. Some people hide the transmitter in a garage or inside a closet. This device sends out a signal that encompasses the surrounding area based on the radius you choose: this can range from a few feet up to the maximum limit of the device, which ranges from 60 to 250 feet depending on the price point you choose. Transmitters typically have easy control dials for adjusting the signal range.

The special receiver collar is designed to send out a warning beep first, and then a mild static energy pulse which has been tested for safety. In fact, the device has gotten the approval as a humane way of keeping the dog within wireless boundaries. A little training will usually get a pet to learn to heed the warning with no need of getting “zapped.”

If you are considering getting a wireless dog fence, make sure you understand the following pros and cons:

Pros:

1. The device is very easy to setup and can set your mind at ease that your pet will not leave the boundaries, with no need of inflicting pain.
2. You will not need to build fences and face up to local zoning restrictions, and they obviously cost less.
3. Some models allow a mode in which the receiver only gives out sounds instead of static energy to keep the dog inside the boundaries.
4. This can be used both indoors and outdoors, unlike other invisible fences that require wires to be buried underground.
5. It is portable, allowing you to use it even when you are out travelling with your dog, provided your pet has already been trained to heed the warning.

Cons:

1. As is the case with dog collar training and invisible fences, a wireless dog fence is not something that happens automatically; it requires commitment and training.
2. The fence does not keep other animals from entering your yard or approaching your dog.
3. The device may not be effective in keeping an aggressive dog, or a pet with high static correction tolerance, contained within the boundaries.
4. Some dogs may be bold enough to run past the static area and avoid coming back with the memory of the static.

Of course, there is no way to predict how a dog exactly how a dog will react to a wireless dog fence, but when you know your dog and believe that he will respond well to this sort of training, you will find the wireless dog fence to be a very helpful way of keeping your pet inside the designated area.

A wireless dog fence is a device used to prevent a dog or any pet from leaving the yard. It runs on batteries, or plugs directly into a power socket, and transmits a signal to the electronic collar strapped on the dog’s neck. The collar emits a low level static jolt to the dog if an attempt is made to pass through the wireless dog fence. Wireless dog fence products are approved by the humane society for animals and regarded as safe devices for pets. There are a lot of dog fences in the market and you can check out their different features by reading the many wireless dog fence reviews online. We discuss how to install a wireless dog fence on your own.

First, install the wireless dog fence transmitter box inside your home. It should be in a dry space, near a wall socket if wired, away from children and metal objects. The metal will interfere with the transmitter and may reduce the signal strength. The transmitter should be at least 3 feet above the ground for best results. Always follow the installation instructions that come with your dog fence.

Place the boundary flags around the area where you want your pet to stay. Turn on the wireless dog fence and set the range to what you prefer. This device usually has a low and high setting. It creates a circular boundary shape from radiating from the device. The shape cannot be shaped, but the range can. If you have a big yard, an extra transmitter or two may be needed. There are even wireless dog fences that can accommodate a half-acre property if needed.

Always test the dog collar before sending your pet outside. Turn on the dog fence transmitter and hold the dog collar around the height where your dog’s neck should be. Walk to the edge of the boundary and wait for the warning beep to sound when you approach the edge. If the signal doesn’t sound, adjust the range and test again. Refer to your instruction manual if you still have problems.

When you are sure that the wireless dog fence has been activated all around the yard, place the dog collar on your pet. Your pet should feel a minor shock when he ignores the warning signal and attempts to pass through the boundary you set.

There should be training instructions included with the pet. It usually consists of training your dog where his boundaries are and that hearing the warning beep should be enough to get him to back off.

If you have a stubborn dog that keeps escaping your yard and getting into mischief in the neighbor’s yard or with other dogs or wildlife, you need a wireless dog fence to rein him in. There are plenty of other ways to keep him inside the yard, from chicken wire to concrete fences, to chain link kennels, to constant supervision, but not all these are safe for your dog or as effective as a wireless dog fence. Some of these solutions, like yelling and begging or chaining your dog to a stick, are pretty unsightly and rarely work. No matter what size a dog is, if it really wants to get out, it can. There are a lot of wireless dog fence reviews in the market that discuss the pros and cons of certain products. Invisible dog fences really work for almost any dog.

An acquaintance tried and invisible dog fence and it failed. Why would a dog fence work for me?

Electronic dog fences work fine most of the time, but there are rare chances that they do sometimes fail. Most dogs respond well to a dog fence, while a small percentage doesn’t. The failure is not caused by the technology itself, but is caused by inadequate training or low-quality hardware.

Training. A wireless dog fence is just a training aid that teaches your pet to stay within a defined boundary. In order for your dog to respect the dog fence, you need to spend at least 15 minutes a day for the first 10 – 14 days after installing, to train him to understand how the electronic dog fence works. Always make sure that your dog wears the dog fence collar or receiver every time he is outdoors. Periodically check the receiver to ensure the batteries are charged and the unit is working properly.

Hardware. There are a lot of different brands of wireless dog fences available at retail stores, online and local professional installers. Unfortunately, not every brand has the features you’ll need to constantly contain your dog. Before selecting the perfect dog fence for your needs, you should look for the following features:

A transmitter that includes lightning protection or purchase a separate lightning protection device.

A receiver or the dog collar, that includes a variety of correction levels, from warning beeps, to very faint to relatively powerful.

Comprehensive warranty coverage or support.

Outdoor rated wire.

A dog fence collar is device wrapped around your dog’s neck and corrects your dog with small static zaps when he ventures outside his invisible fence boundary. There are many wireless dog fence reviews in the internet that can discuss more of this for individual brands and products. The following are the five top things to remember about dog fence collars.

1. Buy a dog fence collar with multiple correction levels. – Some dog fence collars include only one correction level that can be ineffective for most dogs. They can be too strong for dogs with a particularly sensitive personality and too weak for more self-assured dogs. The correction levels should be easily adjustable, from the warning beeps, to low level, to a higher level, to more effectively and safely train your dog. Also, a good dog fence training process starts by using the very low correction levels. As your pet learns his boundary lines, you should increase the correction level until it’s powerful enough to stop your dog from challenging the fence. Obviously, you can’t follow this method with a single-level receiver.

2. Buy a dog fence collar that uses static correction. – Some dog fence collars use audible tones or beeps or citronella scent as a correction method. These fences may be able to keep your dog out of your garden or your pool, but don’t rely on one to keep your dog where you want him.

3. Regularly replace your dog fence collar batteries. – Some batteries last more than a day, some longer than a week, but if the battery runs out, your dog will surely run away. Check the collar’s battery at least once a week to make sure they still have juice. Rechargeable batteries will need to be replaced with new ones and not just recharged, in 3-6 months.

4. Consistency counts. – If you want your dog to stay where you want, make sure he wears his fence collar every time he’s outside. Otherwise, your dog will realize that the dog fence sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. He can get confused, or just run away.

5. Never attach a leash to the dog fence collar. – These fence collars have small metal prongs that lay flat against your pet’s neck. Normally, these prongs are unnoticeable to the dog, but if you put a leash on the collar and tug, your dog will feel uncomfortable with the prongs.

There are now so many ways to give your dogs the proper training at home, so you can keep them within your yard so they can be as far away from harm as possible. But sometimes, traditional fences can look awkward and out of place around your house, especially if you’re trying to grow a garden of your own. There may be times where in it could completely spoil the scenery.

Fortunately we now have wireless dog fences that will be able to keep your dogs within safety and without any kind of inconvenience on your end.

There are two types of wireless dog fences. The first one would require you to do some digging up around the area where you would like your dog to be contained, and the other one wouldn’t require you to do that, anymore. This is because it uses a special type of radio waves. Whether you choose the former or the latter would be up to you. However, in both cases your dog would still need to wear a collar that is especially designed for this.

The first item that we have on our wireless dog fence reviews is the Havahart Wireless Radial Shaped Dog Fence System. Check out what this has in store for your dog.

Here are a few wireless dog fence reviews about the Havahart Wireless Radial Shaped Dog Fence System that were made by customers who already tried it with their dogs.

“I purchased the Havahart Wireless Radial Shaped Dog Fence System after doing quite a bit of research. Visually more appealing, more accurate, better system setup interface, etc. It’s a little more expensive but seems to be worth the extra money. I didn’t want to spoil the view on our residential property with a traditional fence. I elected to go with this system due to the ease of setup and relatively similar training requirements as an in ground electric fence. Getting the perimeter marked with the included flags was a bit of a chore but overall not difficult and not too time consuming. I highly recommend getting your dog(s) familiar with the flags, warning tones, and their safe zone(s) before beginning off leash training with the static correction. After using this system for a couple of weeks now that our training cycle is complete, the dog obeys its boundaries even with distractions (squirrels, birds, other dogs, and people) outside the boundaries. I would recommend trying this to anyone willing to invest about three weeks of consistent training routines.” – Kevin D.

“I purchased the Havahart Wireless Radial Shaped Dog Fence System in September ’10, and it was very easy to set up. I’d highly recommend this to anyone. My pup is 100 lbs and 30″ tall, he’s one big muscle. He doesn’t dare breach the perimeter. I had a couple of problems with the collar fading signal, but ONLY in the beginning. I called customer service, and customer service sent me a whole new system. I’d highly recommend the Havahart® Wireless Radial Dog Fence (the model I own). I’m sure their other products are exceptional as well. Happy adventures with your pup.” – tennesseegal99

Here are just a few of things that some people would have to say about the PetSafe PIF00-12917 Stay and Play. Check them out.

“Our house is 3400sq feet (2 stories). We placed the PetSafe PIF00-12917 Stay and Play about 4 ft. off the ground near a window that opens to the back yard. The unit throws out a signal that allows the dogs to roam a petty large perimeter all the way around the house. I had trouble at first in flagging the border because it appeared that the signal was inconsistent. I called customer service and they walked me through setting it up. Apparently I needed to adjust the signal with the collar near the unit and THEN walk out to see where the correction boundary was. No problems since. Two of my dogs barely needed any training and figured it out quickly. One week after the setup, the dogs have figured it out and are free of their kennels! The waterproof collars are a nice touch. Collars have no need of battery replacement. This product seems to be worth the steep price. A fence would cost us much more and would limit our view of the outdoors.” – Jason L.

Review paraphrased for size – click here to read the full review

“Seems to work good. And seems reliable. I would highly recommend the PetSafe PIF00-12917 Stay and Play if your property permits the shape of the boundary. Also, the collar is made very very well compared to their other systems, and you can tell it will last a very long time. I love the fact that they use rechargeable batteries.” – Robbinsdw

Here are just a couple of reviews we have about thePerimeter® Wire-Free Wifi Dog Fence from dog owners who were already given the chance to use the system on their pets. Find out what they have to say about it.

“I was really leary about buying the Perimeter® Wire-Free Wifi Dog Fence after reading the reviews, but I have had no problems with it. I have a metal garage door and cars in the driveway and they don’t cause any problems. It only took 2 days to train our German shorthaired pointer. She is pretty hard headed I have the collar set on 4. I chose this system over the petsafe because it was recommended for dogs over 60 pounds. The system kept our dog in the yard even when the rabbit from under our shed took off!” – M. Prewit

Review paraphrased for size – click here to read the full review

“The idea behind the Perimeter® Wire-Free Wifi Dog Fence is great. Performance has been satisfactory. The shortened range still gives him plenty of room to run around and it definitely has taught him to stay on the property. The performance suffers greatly when the collar battery gets low. I find that I need to swap the rechargeable battery out almost everyday for good performance. It comes with 2 batteries, but the base will charge 2 at a time, so it might be a good idea to buy an extra battery. My favorite feature of this is the ability to take it with you. It is the perfect way to keep our dog within our campsite area. Couldn’t be easier.” – C. B. Anderson
